Field Experience - Magic School
For the NLP 510 class Field Experience I hosted a MagicSchool.ai Lunch & Learn session at the high school where I teach.

To begin the process of creating the curriculum for the Lunch & Learn session on MagicSchool.ai I registered for the site and completed the 6 self-paced training sessions. The training sessions consisted of watching YouTube video tutorials and exploring the different features that MagicSchool.ai offers. What I loved from learning about this site was that MagicSchool.ai’s mission is to make the lives of teachers easier and to help them save time.

Lunch & Learn Invitation
Teachers were sent an email inviting them to attend a MagicSchool.ai training session held at lunchtime on December 3, 2024. In the invitation they were asked about their level of interest and knowledge base of using Artificial Intelligence. https://forms.office.com/r/985tvKn4zi. The survey did not record their name unless they chose the option to say they’d like to attend the training session.
The survey concluded that of the participants only 33% were either somewhat or very familiar with MagicSchool.ai, but that 100% were interested in learning how Artificial Intelligence could help them with their every day teaching tasks. I asked them about what concerns they had with Artificial Intelligence and the survey found that the participants were mostly concerned about the reliability of AI’s insights and on AI’s impact on student learning and engagement.
A follow up survey will be sent out to ask Lunch & Learn participants about how they have used the MagicSchool.ai features in their classroom and planning, but not until next week. Wanting to give teachers a little bit of time to play around with it in order to gather more data. Participants of the training session will also be asked if they’d like to attend a second session to learn about the MagicSchool Student features.

Out of the 50 faculty members on staff, a combination of 15 teachers and administrators attended one of three lunch & learn sessions.
To create an interactive presentation for the Lunch & Learn sessions I used Curipod (another AI website) to also show the participants that there are creative ways to keep their student’s attention. A copy of the presentation is found HERE.
